Butchery
Classes at Meridian Meats are carried out by Jim Sutcliffe. We offer a range of evening courses aimed at teaching you all
about the meat, where it comes from, how and when it is used and also a
range of basic butchery skills. Jim is well versed in all
aspects of cutting meat, the ageing process, how to make cured
meats and sausages.
At present there are 3 main classes on offer, Lamb, Pork and Sausages but more will be added in due course. Classes run on most Wednesday evenings, starting at 6pm and last approximately 3 and a half hours. Each class will take you through the
butchery of that particular subject before you are taught how to prepare
some cuts, followed by sitting down to a feast prepared from the meat we have
butchered. After which the evening concludes and you get to take home
your cuts of meat, graduation T-shirt and certificate.

Group bookings are becoming more and more popular for Butchery Classes.
We have taken group bookings for a range of things including Corporate
events.
To make the
class a private event, you will need to book out a minimum number of
spaces. Over 18's only.
We have good transport links, and can arrange transport to and from
Newark Northgate &
Grimsby Town Stations for people wishing to travel from further away such as London or Manchester, we can also arrange over night accommodation at
The Pack Horse which is just opposite our shop.
