IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT CONCERNING MAIL ORDERS!!

Since moving to our new shop location in Louth we are delighted to report that our business has increased many times over and as a result we have decided to withdraw our online ordering facility in an effort to overcome disappointment to customers ordering in good faith only to be told that their choice is temporarily out of stock.  We are, of course, happy to receive orders - however we now prefer to do this over the telephone as this has the benefit of allowing us to advise on up to date availability as well as being able to discuss any special requirements that you may have.

Please telephone 01507 603 357 and we will be delighted to discuss your requirements personally with you. If you find it more convenient to email we will be delighted to deal with you enquiry promptly, but this does lack the personl touch!

We have moved a few miles north up the Meridian Line to 108, Eastgate in Louth. Richard Sandy, Family Butcher, occupied these premises until 2nd February 2008 when he retired and we acquired the business which his grandfather established in the 1920s. By what can only be described as a fortunate coincidence our new shop is situated beside where the Meridian Line passes through Louth! The Louth shop is run by Jim and offers a full range of Lincolnshire Specialities, including our own Award Winning Stuffed Chine, Lincolnshire Sausages, Speciality Sausages, Pork Pies and Haslets. Jim also dry cures our bacon and gammon, both plain and smoked as well as producing an extensive range of cooked meats, hand made pies, sausage rolls, black puddings and so forth.

Our opening times are:

                           8am-5pm Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday
                           8am-1pm Thursday
                           8am-5pm Friday
                           8am-3.30pm Saturday

Our farm, at Tetford in the Heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds lies on the Greenwich Meridian Line almost 9 miles due south of the shop. Whilst not registered Organic, all ourTetford Monarch at our farm in September 2007. Sold to K. Mason, Woodland Herd, Waltham Abbey. Click here to enlarge. animals are totally naturally reared producing safe, healthy, traceable meats from British Breeds with a quality and flavour rarely available these days.Longhorn Fore rib joint. Click here for more product details. We are very fortunate that L. Brown & Son's City Abattoir at Lincoln is only 22 miles from the farm; so food miles are low. This ensures that our end product is of the highest possible quality as we ourselves can carry out the transport with a minimum of stress to the animals. To achieve the very best flavour, tenderness and succulence all our beef carcasses are hung for a minimum of three weeks. For lamb, the hanging time is at least a week.

You can find out how we pack and deliver your order in Purchase & Delivery Details and more about our philosophy and our aims in About Us.  Visit Tetford Longhorns website for more information and news about our herd of Longhorns and the Longhorn Cattle Society website for lots of interesting articles, all the latest Longhorn News, a Calendar of Events and lots more. See our bull Tetford Kingpin winning Male Champion at the Royal Show in 2005 as well as at home in early 2006, or click here to see the herd relaxing in their winter quarters and enjoying the sunshine in the Lincolnshire Wolds. We have a number of pedigree heifers for sale at present, click here to go to the full details.

Many top chefs and restauranteurs have come to recognise the qualities of longhorn beef. In his article 'In search of the perfect steak' published in the Sunday Times on 12th November 2006 Heston Blumenthal endorses Britain's oldest beef breed with these words: "The longhorn has it all for me - the nutty, grassy, blue cheese note that I found in the steaks I ate in New York, plus a marvellous moisture and juiciness, alongside a firm but giving texture" Click here to read the full article.

The Guild of Fine Foods Great Taste Awards 2006

At the Great Taste Awards 2006 Meridian Meats Longhorn Beef & Colman's Sausages and Longhorn Beef, Thyme & Wholegrain Mustard Sausages both won Gold Awards. Every entry underwent the most rigorous examination, blind tasted by teams of experts judging solely on texture, mouthfeel and taste. Since it was the first time we had entered we were extremely proud when the team of judges verified the excellence of our products. Their Chairman, Richard Johnson, presenter of BBC2's Full on Food, summed up the significance of the Awards: "In little more than a decade, the Great Taste Awards has become the definitive standard for speciality food and drink in the UK. Unlike a dish in Sainsbury's Taste the Difference range or Tesco's Finest range, a gold from the Great Taste Awards actually means something. It has been hard-won and independently verified. It is as close to a guarantee of real quality as you'll find."

As well as our two Gold Awards two Silver Awards went to our Longhorn Beef Provencal Sausages and our Longhorn Beef & Sweet Chilli Sausages, whilst Longhorn Beef, Port & Red Onion Sausages and our Gloucester Old Spot Pork Pear and Quenby Stilton Sausages received Bronze Awards.
