The name Meridian Meats came about because our Farm at Tetford, where we raise our Longhorn cattle and rare breed sheep, is crossed by the Greenwich Meridian Line. Our Shop is about nine miles north of the farm at 108 Eastgate, Louth. It is a traditional butcher's shop, occupied until the end of January 2008 by Richard Sandy Family Butcher, whose grandfather established his business in the 1920s. It is a fortunate coincidence that the shop is situated beside where the Meridian Line passes through Louth!
The Louth shop is Our Gold Award Winning Lincolnshire Stuffed Chinerun by Jim and in addition to our traditional fresh meats we offer a full range of Lincolnshire Specialities, including our own Award Winning Stuffed Chine, Lincolnshire Sausages, Speciality Sausages, Pork Pies and Haslets. Jim also dry cures our bacon and gammon, both plain and smoked as well as producing an extensive range of cooked meats, hand made pies, sausage rolls, black puddings and so forth.

Whilst our farm is not registered Organic, all ourTetford Monarch at our farm in September 2007. Sold to K. Mason, Woodland Herd, Waltham Abbey. Click here to enlarge. animals are totally naturally reared producing safe, healthy, traceable meats from British Breeds with a quality and flavour rarely available these days.Home produced Longhorn Fore rib joint. Click here to buy Longhorn beef online.  We are very fortunate that L. Brown & Son's City Abattoir at Lincoln is only 22 miles from the farm; so food miles are very low and our end product is of the highest possible quality as we ourselves can carry out the transport with the minimum of stress to the animals. To achieve the very best flavour, tenderness and succulence all our beef carcasses are hung for a minimum of three weeks. For lamb, the hanging time is at least a week.

To demonstrate and endorse our dedication to excellence we enter a number of local and national food industry competitions. This enables our products to be assessed by independent judges and you will see details of our many successes on our Awards page. You can find out how we pack and deliver your online order in Purchase & Delivery Details and more about our philosophy and our aims in About Us.  Visit Tetford Longhorns website for news about the farm and our herd of Longhorns together with lots of photographs and other items of interest. Also the Longhorn Cattle Society website has many interesting articles, all the latest Longhorn News and a Calendar of Events.

Many top chefs and restauranteurs have come to recognise the qualities of longhorn beef. In his article 'In search of the perfect steak' published in the Sunday Times on 12th November 2006 Heston Blumenthal endorses Britain's oldest beef breed with these words: "The longhorn has it all for me - the nutty, grassy, blue cheese note that I found in the steaks I ate in New York, plus a marvellous moisture and juiciness, alongside a firm but giving texture" Click here to read the full article.

Thank you for shopping with Meridian Meats where our aim is to enhance the pleasure of your eating experiences by offering nothing but the finest quality natural produce. As an endorsement of the quality of our products and service we are featured on Top of the Shops, the UK's biggest guide to secure online shopping.
